Domain name transfer is the transferring of a domain name from one registrant to another (“Ownership” transfer) or from one registrar to another. This may be done to give the administrating party more control over nameservice, which in turn gives more fine-grained control over the services used by the domain.

- Domain Verification
The transfer may also be done to have the new registrant monitor domain renewal dates. This keeps your domain name safe, preventing fraudulent transfer and expiration.
If a domain name does expire, nameservice may be suspended by the registrar for 2-6 weeks, rendering the associated website inoperable. After the waiting period, the name will go back to the pool of publicly available names.
